For now
Arrange care for dependents and pets
If they were caring for someone (a child, an aging parent, a spouse with dementia) or a pet, that care needs to continue right now. Call someone who can step in for the next day or two. This doesn't need to be a long-term plan. It just needs to happen while you catch your breath.
What you'll need
- Names of people who could step in
- Care instructions: medications, routines, doctor or vet contacts
Good to know
Ask for help: Call two or three people who might be able to help. Whoever says yes has an easier way to say yes, and you have a backup if plans change.
A gentle reminder
You don't need to make long-term decisions about anyone's care today. A few days of help from someone else is enough.
