Contact the Veterans Administration
If they served, the VA has burial benefits (a grave and marker at a national cemetery, a burial allowance for private cemeteries), survivor pensions, and health care access for eligible survivors. Call 1-800-827-1000 or start online at va.gov.
What you'll need
- Their DD-214
- A certified copy of the death certificate
- Your marriage certificate, for spouse benefits
