Closing the estate
File a final accounting with the probate court
Before closing probate, the executor files a final accounting showing all money in, money out, and how remaining assets were distributed. The court reviews and approves. This is often the last major step in probate.
What you'll need
- Records of all money in and out
- Receipts for estate expenses
